Though not widely available and acceptable in China, dog meat is still a choice of food for some folks. Also, in the Chinese language, the dog is a synonym for humblesness, inferiority, and servility despite the great number of dogs kept as pets. A Chinese poodle lover may naturally refer to someone pesky as “a poor, low-born dog.”
